A familiar landmark within the Northumberland landscape.
Reaching the location was not without its challenges, including a memorable encounter with Northumberland mud, which seemed determined to keep hold of my boots. Looking back, the walk and the experience are as much a part of the photograph as the tree itself.
At the time, it was simply part of the landscape. Years later, following its loss, the photograph became something more. What was once a landscape image became a record of a place that no longer exists in the same way.
For me, this photograph is a reminder that photography is not only about preserving images, but preserving moments, places and experiences that can never be repeated.

Standing alone at the water's edge, this tree has become one of the most photographed landmarks in Llanberis. Drawn by the scenery and changing weather, I found myself returning to the shoreline and taking time to observe the relationship between the tree, the lake and the surrounding mountains.
The exposed roots tell a story of resilience, shaped over many years by water, weather and seasonal change. For me, the photograph is not just about a tree, but about the environment that has shaped it.

A winding path disappears into the landscape, crossing open moorland shaped by weather, seasons and time.
With patches of snow still clinging to the ground and a vast sky stretching overhead, this photograph captures the feeling of exploring without a destination in mind. Sometimes the journey through a place becomes just as important as the place itself.
For me, photographs like this are a reminder that discovery often begins with a simple decision to keep walking.

Stretching into the sea, this weathered groyne stands as a barrier between land and water, shaped by years of tides, storms and shifting sands.
The long exposure softens the movement of the sea, while the structure remains fixed against the changing conditions around it. For me, the photograph is a reminder of the constant relationship between the coast and the forces that shape it.
Along the shoreline, nothing remains unchanged for long.
